Player Parents - Consent and Code of Conduct

 

CONSENT 

IN CONSIDERATION OF my child/ward, being allowed to participate in any way in American Youth Football, Inc. (AYF) or American Youth Cheer dba, Regional/National Championships, my Local AYF Affiliation(s), athletic sports program, related events and activities, the undersigned acknowledges, appreciates, and agrees that:
1)The risk of injury to my child/ward, myself, from the activities involved in these programs is significant, including

the potential for permanent disability, paralysis and death, and while particular rules, equipment, and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious injury does exist; and,
2)FOR MYSELF, SPOUSE, AND CHILD/WARD, I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES or others, and assume full responsibility for child/ward, participation; and,

3)I willingly agree to comply with the stated and customary terms and conditions for participation. If, however, I observe any unusual significant concern in my child/wards', readiness or, hazard during my presence or participation, and/or in the program itself, I will remove my, child/ward, from participation and bring such to the attention of the nearest official immediately; and,

4) I, for myself, my spouse, my child/ward, and on behalf of my/our heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY RELEASE, INDEMNIFY, AND HOLD HARMLESS American Youth Football, Inc.(AYF),
American Youth Cheer dba, my Local AYF Affiliation, their officers, directors, officials, volunteers, agents, and/or employees, other participants, sponsoring agencies, tournament host, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the event ( RELEASEES ), WITH RESPECT TO ANY AND ALL INJURY, DISABILITY, DEATH, or loss or damage to person or property, incident to my child/wards', involvement or participation in these programs, WHETHER ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

5) I, for myself, my spouse, my child/ward, and on behalf of my/our heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS all the above Releasees from any and all liabilities incident to my child/ward's involvement or participation in these programs, EVEN IF ARISING FROM
THEIR NEGLIGENCE, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT, AND SIGN IT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY WITHOUT ANY INDUCEMENT .

UNDERSTANDING OF RISK

I understand the seriousness of the risks involved in participating in this program, my personal responsibilities for adhering to rules and regulation, and accept them as a participant.
AYF CODE OF CONDUCT 

SECTION 19 - AYF - ADMINISTRATORS, COACHES, VOLUNTEERS STANDARD OF CONDUCT 

All Administrators, Coaches, and Volunteers will abide by a Standard of Conduct, which includes the provisions listed below. If any of these provisions are violated, the Association/Conference shall have the authority to impose any penalty they see fit. If any of these provisions are violated during a Regional or National event, the National Office at its sole discretion shall have the authority to impose any penalty it sees fit with no right to appeal. Administrators, Coaches, and Volunteers, having already accepted and agreed to abide by the Coach and Administrators Pledge and the Coach and Administrators Code, by their accepting and active participation in membership, shall follow the intent of the Pledge and Code and shall inclusively and/or additionally agree to:

1. Not smoke and/or use smokeless tobacco on the field or in front of participants at any time.
2. Abstain from the possession and drinking of alcoholic beverages and the possession or use of any illegal substance on the field or in front of participants at any time.
3. Accept decisions of the game officials and judges on the field and in competitions as being fair and called to the best of their ability.
4. Not criticize an opposing team, its players, spirit participants, coaches, or fans by word of mouth or by gesture. 5. Together with team officials, be jointly responsible for the conduct and control of team fans and spectators. Any parent, guardian or fan that becomes a nuisance and out of control must be asked to leave.
6. Not use abusive or profane language at any time.
7. Not encourage their team to intentionally run up the score on an opponent. In the event of a commanding lead every effort shall be made to let all players play.
8. Not permit or encourage, “extreme dieting,” or “sweating down” tactics of any kind for any reason. Must report any instance witnessed or suspected to the parent/guardian and local administrator.
9. Not recommend or distribute any medication, controlled or over the counter.
10. Not deliberately incite unsportsmanlike conduct.
11. Not criticize/berate participants ever, to provide constructive criticism, in private, or in the presence of team/ squad members if others might benefit.
12. Remove from a game or practice any participant when his/her health is in question, whether or not as a result of injury, until competent medical advice is available.
13. A coach will follow the parameters of the Anti-Substance Abuse Rule and see that it’s carried out faithfully and that all players understand its importance.
14. A coach will not use ineligible players and will take the responsibility of having proper and legal documents on each and every player proving his eligibility at all times.
15. Insure that all participants meet the minimum required number of plays under the Mandatory Play Rules and Regulations.
16. Uphold all rules and regulations of Association, Conference, Region, and National AYF.
17. A coach must discourage the wearing of gang colors or any gang symbol and the use of any gang related forms of communication during any and all team related activities including but not limited to team.
18. The act of spreading rumors, which is general talk not based on fact, will not be tolerated in American Youth Football/American Youth Cheer. It not only hurts your credibility, but affects your team/squad/association, the other team/squad/association or conference that may become involved in the rumor. In the case of cheating or rules violations, these must be reported in writing and given to the Association or Conference Official for review. 19. Not engage in any activity on any “SOCIAL MEDIA” that can be considered libel and or slander of any Board Member or coach associated with the league, and will police my participant child from doing the same.

*Any parent, coach, player, spectator, family member or friend who violates one or more of the provisions contained in the Code of Conduct during an event may be asked to vacate the premises immediately along with his or her child who, if necessary, will be removed from game play and is subject to immediate removal from the organization without warning or refund.

FANS' CODE OF CONDUCT 

Fans will abide by a Code of Conduct which includes the provisions which follow. If any of these rules are broken, shall have the authority to impose a penalty.

Fans shall: 

1. Not criticize the players/cheerleaders or coaches in front of the other spectators in the stands, but reserve constructive criticism for later, in private.
2. Accept decisions of the game officials (including referees and coaches) on the field as being fair and called to the best ability of said officials.
3. Not criticize an opposing team, its players, coaches, or fans by work of mouth or by gesture.
4. Refrain from using physical or verbal abuse or profane language at any time at the game, practice field, or other AYF functions.
5. Abstain from being under the influence of or in possession of and/or drinking alcoholic beverages and the possession or use of any illegal substance on both the game and practice fields.
6. Not be allowed on the sidelines during a game.
7. Not interfere/interrupt the coaching staff before, during or after games or at practice.

8. Not express complaints about coaches in stands or to coaches in front of or around the children (i.e. right after a game or practice).

VIOLATION 

Any parent or fan who violates the code of conduct risks the further participation of the child in the program.

The procedure is as follows: 

1. Any fan who violates the code of conduct or becomes a nuisance will be asked to leave by the head coach and can be suspended from all team activities.
2. If the fan fails to leave upon request, the child may be suspended from further participation in team activities by the head coach.

3. The head coach along with the executive board will decide if the duration of the suspension is to be longer than one to four
weeks or if the child will be dropped from the program. That decision will depend on the attitude of the parents. 4. Any parent or fan who violates the code of conduct risks the future participation of his/her children in the program.

Depending on the severity of the incident the board of directors may decide to ban future participation in the program for up to
three years.

*Any parent, coach, player, spectator, family member or friend who violates one or more of the provisions contained in the Code of Conduct during an event may be asked to vacate the premises immediately along with his or her child who, if necessary, will be removed from game play and is subject to immediate removal from the organization without warning or refund.

CONDUCT OF ALL PLAYERS - PARENTS 

All players are guaranteed 8 plays in each Scrimmage, Regular Season or Playoff game. Everything beyond that must be earned in the opinion of the coaching staff whose decisions are final.

Athlete’s Code 

I will: emphasis the ideals of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and fair play. Show courtesy to my opponents and officials. Recognize athletic contests are serious educational endeavors. Give complete allegiance to my coaches who are the instructional authority for my team. Discourage fans, fellow players and parents from undercutting my coach’s authority.

I will not: Use profanity or talk “trash” before, during or after any game. Use drugs, alcohol, or tobacco. Criticize my
teammates. Act in any way that may incite spectators.

Parent’s Code 

I will: Support my child’s team/squad and teach the value of commitment to the team/squad - emphasis the ideals of sportsmanship,
ethical conduct and fair play. Help my child and American Youth Football make athletic contests a positive educational experiences.

Show courtesy to opponents and officials. Direct constructive criticism of my child’s athletic program to the athletic director or association officials and work toward a positive result for all concerned.
I will not: Criticize officials, direct abuse or profane language toward them, or otherwise subvert their authority. Undermine, in work or deed, the authority of the coach or administration. Intrude onto the field, stand on the sideline, or yell from the bleachers at or to the coaches, referees or administration.

*Any parent, coach, player, spectator, family member or friend who violates one or more of the provisions contained in the Code of Conduct during an event may be asked to vacate the premises immediately along with his or her child who, if necessary, will be removed from game play and is subject to immediate removal from the organization without warning or refund.

BRICK FOOTBALL & CHEER PARENT’S CODE OF CONDUCT 

I hereby pledge to provide positive support, attitude and encouragement for my child as he/she participates in youth sports for the BRICK FOOTBALL & CHEER by agreeing to all of the following:
I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials, at all times.
I will place the emotional and physical well being of my child ahead of my personal desire to win.
I will support coaches and officials working with my child to model appropriate behavior and encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
I will demand an environment for my child free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and will refrain from their use at all BRICK FOOTBALL & CHEER events.
I will remember that youth sports are for the children and not for the adults.
I will do my best to make participating in BRICK FOOTBALL & CHEER fun for my child.
I will help my child enjoy their BRICK FOOTBALL & CHEER experience by being a respectful fan, assisting with coaching or volunteering as needed and whenever possible.
I will refrain from inappropriate, threatening or violent language, gestures or behavior aimed at officials, coaches, other volunteers or children.
I will require my child to treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect regardless of race, gender, creed, or ability.
I will refrain from posting on any social media, anything that can be considered libel and or slander against the league, any Board member, coach, and or participant, and will police my child participant from doing the same.

In the spirit of good sportsmanship I understand that I am accountable for my own conduct as well as for those attending on my behalf.
Failure to do so can result in removal from the field and or league, a suspension of the participant (temporary and or permanent), and or legal action from BRICK FOOTBALL & CHEER and or the individual affected by the violation.

No person or persons affiliated with the BRICK FOOTBALL & CHEER may issue any statement, either written or verbal, to any newspaper, radio, television or any other media which might be interpreted to be an official statement, policy or position of this franchise or any of its affiliates without the expressed permission of the Board of Directors.

No person shall use the BRICK FOOTBALL & CHEER name or logo on any article, clothing or otherwise, without prior approval of the Board of Directors.

The President shall serve as the official spokesperson for BRICK FOOTBALL & CHEER, except in those instances where the President and the Board of Directors direct other personnel to handle public relations.
All parents and guardians of BRICK FOOTBALL & CHEER participants are expected to adhere to this Parents Code of Conduct, AS WELL AS the posted Code of Conduct at the field.

I also agree that I shall not engage in any activity on any “SOCIAL MEDIA” platform that can be considered libel and or slander of any Board Member, coach, participant or anyone associated with the league, and will police my participant child from doing the same.

I understand that failure to comply with the above may result in:

Immediate removal from an event either by BRICK FOOTBALL & CHEER BOARD members or a local Police Department.
Depending on the severity of the offense, suspension or expulsion from all BRICK FOOTBALL & CHEER activities and/or criminal prosecution.

*Any parent, coach, player, spectator, family member or friend who violates one or more of the provisions contained in the Code of Conduct during an event may be asked to vacate the premises immediately along with his or her child who, if necessary, will be removed from game play and is subject to immediate removal from the organization without warning or refund.

BRICK TOWNSHIP YOUTH SPORTS CODE OF CONDUCT 

Each youth sports activity and each participant or parent or legal guardian of said participant where the participant is a minor and all adults participating in some official capacity, including but not limited to coaches, umpires or referees and other officials and participants, shall be required to follow the Code of Conduct as set forth more fully below and sign a pledge listing the Code of Conduct listed below and agreeing to conform conduct to the Code of Conduct and be subject to disciplinary action for violations.

The Code of Conduct followed by The Township of Brick shall be as follows:
(1) Participants shall not engage in any unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
(2) Participants shall encourage children and other persons and participants not to engage in unsportsmanlike conduct by any coach, parent or player, participant, official or any other attendee.
(3) Participants shall not engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety or welfare of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
(4) Participants shall not encourage any child or any other person to engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety or well-being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
(5) Participants shall not use drugs or alcohol while at a youth sports event and will not attend, coach, officiate or participate in a youth sports event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
(6) Participants shall not permit any child or encourage any other person to use drugs or alcohol at a youth sports event and will not permit any child or encourage any other person to attend, coach, officiate or participate in a youth sports event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

(7) Participants shall not engage in the use of profanity.
(8) Participants shall not encourage any child or any other person to engage in the use of profanity. (9) Participants shall treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee with

respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sexual orientation or ability.
(10) Participants shall encourage children to treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any attendee with respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sexual orientation or ability.
(11) Participants shall not engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player,

participant, official or any other attendee.
(12) Participants shall not encourage any child or any other person to engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
(13) Participants shall not initiate a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
(14) Participants shall not encourage any child or any other person to initiate a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.

Guests, spectators and other parties present at youth sports events who would not normally sign the pledge or did not sign the pledge set forth above are still prohibited from participating in fights, scuffles, or any type of physical or verbal abuse or threats towards participants, coaches, officials or one another and are subject to sanctions set forth more fully below.

SANCTIONS 

Any parent, participant, player, guest, spectator, coach or official at any youth sports event sponsored by the Brick Township Recreation Department who initiates a fight, scuffle or any type of physical abuse or threats of abuse towards any participant, player, coach, official, parent or spectator may be subject to a verbal and/or written warning, a suspension from the particular youth sports event in attendance or may be banned from attendance at all youth sports events sponsored by The Brick Recreation Department for a period not exceeding 12 months from the date of the incident.

Any parent, participant, player, guest, spectator, coach or official at any youth sports event sponsored by the Brick Township Recreation Department who verbally abuses officials, participants, coaches, players or spectators, including the use of obscene or profane language or jesters, racial, ethnic or sexual slurs, may be subject to a verbal and/or written warning or, in severe cases, suspended from the subject event and/or banned from attendance at all youth events sponsored by the Brick Township Recreation Department for a period not exceeding 12 months from the date of the incident.

Any parent, participant, player, guest, spectator or official at any youth sports event sponsored by the Brick Township Recreation Department who throws or causes to be deposited any object on the field of play, court or rink during any youth sports event sponsored by the Brick Recreation Department may be suspended from the subject event and/or banned from attendance at all youth events sponsored by the Brick Recreation Department for a period not exceeding 12 months from the date of the incident.

Any parent, participant, player, official, coach or spectator at any youth sporting event shall be subject to the authority of all field officials, including umpires, referees and appointed league officials or coaches of the youth sports activity. This authority shall also include any youth teams, practice or instructional event, and such authority shall include the authorization to direct any persons involved in any incident in violation of this chapter or applicable Code of Conduct to immediately remove themselves from the premises.

Any parent, participant, player, official, coach or spectator who violates one or more of the provisions contained in the Code of Conduct, either during the same event, or separate events, may be banned from attending, coaching, officiating, participating in any youth sports events sponsored by the Brick Township Recreation Department for a period not exceeding 12 months if the person:

(1) Has been issued a prior written warning for violating one or more of the provisions contained in the Code of Conduct; or
(2) Violates the Code of Conduct by engaging in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee, guest or spectator; or

(3) Violates the Code of Conduct by initiating a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee, guest or spectator.

*Any parent, coach, player, spectator, family member or friend who violates one or more of the provisions contained in the Code of Conduct during an event may be asked to vacate the premises immediately along with his or her child who, if necessary, will be removed from game play and is subject to immediate removal from the organization without warning or refund.
